The game of Poker has a variety of betting intervals. A player is allowed to double his stake for a limited number of raises, but after three or four raises, his stake will be too large to maintain the game. This is called a “drop” or “fold.” During a game, a player who folds his hand does not have to compete for the pot. It is also possible for a player to raise his stake after a call, but this is not common.

The rank of standard poker hands is determined by the odds. In some games, the ace is considered the lowest card. Other hands with the same value are called a pair of aces or a straight flush. While no suit has a definite rank in poker, wild cards are used to make the highest possible hand: five of a kind. This beats the straight flush. Similarly, secondary pairs and highest unmatched cards break ties among identical hands.

A ‘kitty’ is a special fund in Poker that is built by cutting a low denomination chip from a pot after more than one player raises. This fund belongs to all players equally and is used to buy new decks and food for the entire table. The kitty is divided among the players remaining in the game. This money goes to the players who still wish to continue playing Poker. Players who leave the game early do not get their share of the kitty.
